2018-12-05

The MicroTAS conference is one of the biggest international conference in microfluidic field. Thousands of worldwide scientists gather together presented the new technology and applications used on microfluidic devices. Yu-Ting Kao participated a workshop which related to commercialization of microfluidic devices and systems. One of the lectures delivered by Prof. Luke Lee from UC Berkeley, USA made her impressed. They are doing fast PCR integrated with portable detection system that nowadays people in this field would like to do. In this conference, Yu-Ting Kao mostly participated the lectures related to droplet generation and manipulations which inspired Yu-Ting Kao of her research. In addition, she had a poster presentation of her research entitled “Gravity-driven Step Emulsification Device for Single Bacterium Encapsulation and Minimum Inhibitory Concentration of Antibiotics” that made her awarded “CBMS Student/Young Researcher Grant. A total of 48 stipends out of 740 were granted. People were interested in Yu-Ting Kao research and gave her some comments. Overall, MicroTAS is a great conference to meet outstanding scientists and get inspired in many sides of research.
