6th International Conference on Bio-Sensing Technology

2019-10-14

Viknasvarri Ayerdurai participated in the 6th International Conference on Bio-Sensing Technology at Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia. The conference consisted of six-keynote lectures, oral and rapid communications and poster presentations. Viknasvarri participated in the poster session presenting a poster 'Molecularly Imprinted polymers for the detection of food toxins'. There was active discussion during her poster presentation with some interesting questions for example: a. „What was the reason for using polypyrrole as the polymer backbone?“, or b. „The reasons for choosing two different functional monomers?“

The most interesting lectures was from the group of Dr. Zeynep Altintas from Technical University of Berlin. The talk focused on a sensor to detect drug against the parasite that causes malaria disease. Hence, they developed a molecularly imprinted sensor for the detection of artemisinin in the plant extract. The imprinting factor of this sensor was 6.8. The results show that the sensor demonstrates a great potential for artemisinin determination in the plant.
